Music and nature-oriented daycare centre Pilke Pajupilli opened in Sotkamo in 2019

Pilke Pajupilli opened in a new building on Kirkkotie Street, Sotkamo in January 2019. The music and nature-oriented daycare centre provides high-quality child-centred early childhood education and care for children aged 0–5 years at a warm-spirited daycare centre with 75 daycare places.

Our objective is to provide the children with musical experiences, capacities and skills as well as experiences of learning and success. The music-oriented education is implemented in the daycare centre’s everyday operation through singing, playing instruments, listening to music, reading rhymes, improvising, exercising and dancing, for example. In addition, the children are taught a positive attitude towards nature and a sustainable lifestyle. Come rain or shine, we spend plenty of time outdoors. Our operation emphasises wondering and exploring various natural phenomena, and we make trips on a regular basis.

In addition, we naturally reserve time for other versatile activities, such as drama, handicraft and painting, not to forget sufficient daily rest. Everyday pedagogy is also part of every moment of our operation. It is present in pausing to wonder things together; counting peas in the salad bowl or experimenting with colours when painting. We value each unhurried moment we get to spend conversating, playing or just being silly while exploring the world together. We encourage the children to try their best as well as to accept the diversity of people. They steadily grow into independent individuals who can rely on their skills and dare to dream.
