Early childhood education in English in Kauniainen
An ICEC English-language daycare center opened in August 2021 in a new building in Kauniainen at Kasavuorentie 6, 02700 Kauniainen
Also in Finnish
The kindergarten also has a language-enriched group where the main language is Finnish and the English language is seen as a language-enriched activity, where it is easy for the child to get to know the new language gradually.
In language-enriched early childhood education, children can, among other things, practice familiar songs, rhymes and concepts while singing and thinking together in English.
A bilingual (English-Finnish) preschool group will start in the kindergarten in the fall of 2023.
Diverse activities in accordance with the early childhood education plan
The ICEC daycare centers follows both the Finnish national early childhood education plan and the English EYFS curricula. The daycare center’s activities emphasize children’s creativity, play, multiculturalism, and inclusive learning.
ICEC KAUNIAINEN PEDAGOGICAL PLAN 2022-2023

Greetings from the ICEC Kauniainen manager
Hi,
my name is Anneleen Burmansson and I have had the honour to manage ICEC Kauniainen since February 2022.
I hold a master’s degree in Health Sciences (specialisation in children’s psychomotricity), a bachelor degree in Social Sciences (Early Childhood Education) as well as a master’s degree in Leadership in Social Care. I am originally from Ghent, Belgium but life brought me to Finland 20 years ago and since then I have accumulated more than 15 years of experience as an ECEC teacher as well as more than 12 years as manager.
My passion for ECEC has only increased over these years as well as my appreciation for the job the whole team does, every day again to give each young child in our care a good day, every day.
A child’s early years are a phase of intense development and learning. Our mission is to create an atmosphere where each child is seen as unique and full of opportunities, where each child is approached with open minds and arms and guided to explore the world we live in. Through active exploration and wonder we want to build a strong foundation for life-long learning.
In ICEC Kauniainen we also actively celebrate diversity. Through our everyday activities, projects and celebrations we involve all nationalities of our daycare community. This way children learn to be proud of who they are and proud to share their cultural inheritance. Simultaneously children learn how wonderful it is that people look different, talk differently, think differently…
The most wonderful thing of all about working with children is that they force us to look at the world through their eyes: without judgement or prejudice, with awe and wonder. This is a skill I wish to never loose.
Log-built daycare centres – sensory-friendly learning environment
In our ecological log daycare center, children can enjoy the fresh indoor air, good acoustics and a calm and peaceful atmosphere brought by the solid wood structure of the building.
ICEC Kauniainen - Our customer families' experiences
We want to create a good day for the children, every day. In addition to daily meetings and discussions, we investigate the experiences of our customer families annually in an anonymous online survey. We also ask feedback from children.
”Inventiveness, finding new ways of doing things, resolution of issues, looking for the best for the customer are matters of the heart for Pilke and myself”
