Playschool Lehtisaari provides early childhood education in English

Playschool Lehtisaari (formely known as Taikasaari) is a welcoming, multicultural playschool in the beautiful area of Lehtisaari, close to sea, forest, playgrounds and culture.

Playschool Lehtisaari provides early childhood education and care in English for children from 1 to 6 years old, while simultaneously supporting Finnish language development through our “Suomi Klubi” which is incorporated in our curriculum on weekly basis. We are also an Helsinki City approved Pre-school.

Through exploration, play, music, imagination, crafts, stories, and physical activity children expand their knowledge and build a strong foundation for a life-long positive attitude to learning. Children are encouraged to ask questions, to investigate and to share their learning with each other and all this happens in an environment where diversity is celebrated and multicultural awareness is nurtured, seeing each child as unique and valuable.

Excellent communication and cooperation with guardians are very important to us and several occasions are organized each year to closely involve families in our playschool life.

In Pilke Lehtisaari, we follow the Finnish National Core Curriculum for Early Childhood Education and Care, and we focus on learning & growing through play and self-expression.

In addition, we based our methodology on learning environments to support children’s development. Because research informs us that experience is the trigger that enables children to organize their brains to support the challenges they meet, and because we know that these experiences support the development of the whole child—social, emotional, cultural, linguistic, physical, and cognitive—a positive learning environment for young children needs to provide activities for all these aspects of growth.

In order to achieve this, we organize our classrooms to include activity areas/corners that offer opportunities for hands-on, play-based learning supported by a rich array of available materials that invite children to inquire, explore, discover, solve problems and engage with each other about ideas and learning experiences.

We love to go outside as well! We enjoy going on excursions, to parks, festivals, libraries, and cultural events and to spend lots of fun times playing outdoors!

The world is a wonderful place and together with the children we explore and wonder every day!

Come and join us and discover first-hand the amazing community we are.

Greetings from the Manager of Playschool Lehtisaari!

Dear Families,

Welcome to Pilke Playschool Lehtisaari in the heart of Helsinki!

I am Maria and I have a master’s degree in educational leadership, a master’s degree in early childhood education, a diploma in social services and certificates in Reggio Emilia and Montessori methodologies and I am thrilled to extend this warm and personal greeting to you on behalf of our dedicated team.

I have been working in early childhood education all my life, as a bilingual kindergarten teacher, and playschool manager. I have lived and worked in many fantastic places like USA, Canada, UK and now Finland! I am the manager of this wonderful daycare, and I consider it both, a privilege, and a joy to be a part of this vibrant, caring, and multicultural community. Our daycare is not just a place where children come to learn; it's a second home, a place of growth, exploration, and smiles.

We are an English Language playschool, and our work community is a close-knit family, bound by a shared passion for early childhood education. We feel a sense of togetherness and purpose every day as we guide, nurture, and support our little ones on their unique learning journeys.

A good day in our kindergarten is one filled with curiosity and laughter, where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. We cherish the individuality of each child and tailor our approach to meet their specific needs and interests.

What sets our daycare apart is the spirit of inclusivity, cooperation, and a commitment to the principles of the Helsinki ECEC curriculum. These values are not just words on paper; they are woven into the fabric of our daily lives.

One of the things we love to do with our children is to embark on exciting journeys of discovery. We encourage exploration and creativity through hands-on activities, outdoor adventures, and collaborative projects. Our aim is to nurture their natural curiosity and foster a love for learning.

Families who choose our daycare appreciate the strong sense of community and the supportive environment we provide. They have peace of mind, knowing that their children are in capable and caring hands.

But there's something more that's truly special about our daycare. It's the little moments - a child's first step, a shared story, the sparkle in their eyes when they grasp a new concept - that make our hearts swell with pride and joy. It's the sense of wonder that fills the air, reminding us of the magic of childhood.

So, if you're looking for a daycare centre that values your child's individuality, where they can explore, learn, and grow in a warm and inclusive environment, you've found it. We're not just educators; we're partners on this incredible journey of early childhood education.

I invite you to explore our daycare and discover why it's more than a place of learning - it's a place of love and belonging. We can't wait to welcome your family into our community.
